It was told to me that if you booked your cruise on or before Nov. 7th 2007, you would get a refund for that same surcharge amount in the form of an on board credit. Does anyone know anything differant than this?

  1. How you will receive the refund depends on when you are going to cruise --

If you've already taken your cruise, your credit card will be credited (assuming you used a credit card to pay for the cruise).

If you've paid your invoice in full, but haven't cruised, you'll receive an on-board credit.

If you haven't paid your invoice in full, the amount will be deducted from your balance due.

And if you're planning on another cruise book it now -- Carnival is raising the fuel surcharge on its fleet effective April 21.

  2. Royal Caribbean gave refunds of the fuel surcharge if you booked before November 2007 but they credited the credit card account that I used to pay for the cruise.  I prefer that to them s******g up the refund adding it to my on board tab.

  3. Yes you will get the refund if you were charged for it.

Check with your booking agent or Carnival direct.

BUT Carnival has raised the fuel surcharge for future bookings.

  4. the letter i got from catnival says if your deposit was in prior to nov 7th and you have sailed you will be refunded the same way you paid, if you sail between now and june its a OBC and after than it will come off you balance if one is due. It also said it would take up to 3 weeks to get the refund

  5. Just like the others said- If you booked in full or applied deposit on or before 11/07/07 and have already sailed you will get a refund-If paid in Full but not yet sailed it will be applied as ShipBoard Credit- If you haven' paid yopur Final it will be taken off your Final Payment amount. This is also true for Carnival Corps. other cruise lines: Princess, Cunard, Holland America, etc.-  Also-on a side note- for future bookings CCL has increased the surcharge by $2.00
