Question:

Fujifilm Camera won't power on after beach trip

My sister came back from the beach wanting to upload photos to our hard drive. When we tried browsing them on the camera, we found that the camera wouldn't power on. We've only had the Finepix J10 for about a month and a half. I'm guessing we got the warranty on it. Checked, no sand on it at all (except on the display (external)) which was no problem.I always thought it was durable. I just want to get some suggestions before our parents come home. Thanks. 10 points to best answer. Thanks

  1. Sand particles are very small.  Plus it's not the sand that on it that's the problem, it's the sand that is in it that's the problem.  Sand could have easily gotten in where the lens retracts even if you took special care to not lay it down in the sand.  If it was sand, then a warranty would not cover it.  They could fix it, but it would be charged as an out of warranty fix.

This may sound simple enough, but did you try recharging the battery?  It may be not turning on because the battery is dead and needs recharging.  Sometimes people get so panicked when their camera doesn't work, they forget the easiest solution.
