Fulgence Ouedraogo motivated for upcoming clash of Heineken Cup against Bath Rugby
Montpellier skipper, Fulgence Ouedraogo, is motivated to win their next game of Heineken Cup 2011-12 against Bath Rugby in the second round to be played on November 20. The first match of Montpellier against Leinster remained undecided with 16-16 last Saturday.
Talking to reporters on November 16 the skipper said that his side is getting ready to comeback into the tournament with a victory on Sunday.
Montpellier's side is left with two more group matches in the ongoing Heineken Cup and they need at least one victory to qualify for the next stage of the tournament. They are currently placed at 3rd on the ladder behind Glasgow Warriors and Leinster
with two points. Similarly they are ahead of just Bath, which received an initial defeat against Glasgow in its opening encounter.
Montpellier led the match with a comprehensive margin at one point but failed to maintain their superiority until the end. They were leading by 16-6 after the interval when Leinster bounced back in the match with a brilliant effort. Johnny Sexton helped
Leinster with three penalty goals to deprive Montpellier from an almost secured victory.
On the other hand, Francois Trinh-Duc and Benoit Paillaugue played extremely well for Montpellier and kept the rivals under pressure most of the time. Both sides scored one try in the match.
Meanwhile, talking to journalists, Montpellier’s skipper Fulgence Ouedraogo said that his side has learnt many things from the previous match and they will try to apply the lessons in the next game. He added that, “Our second game promises to be even tougher
than last Saturday's in the sense that we travel to an English club we know to be highly motivated and, with the final being held at Twickenham Stadium, they are ambitious and will want to qualify for the knock-out stages.”
He also stated that Bath has a good competitive side and a tough clash is expected when the sides meet on Sunday. He argued that, “We know the overall quality of their squad and that by taking part in the Heineken Cup we would face the best teams in Europe
so with Leinster last Saturday and then Bath to follow, we are certainly doing just that from the very start.”
The teams will stand toe-to-toe on November 20 at Recreation Ground.
