Fulham manager Mark Hughes insists the club are safe from relegation after Bolton win: EPL news
Fulham boss Mark Hughes has insisted that the club are safe from relegation after their 3-0 win against Bolton Wanderers at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night. He declared that Fulham had ended any fears of relegation after the win and hoped to finish in the top half of the table.
Mark Hughes’ side defeated Owen Coyle’s Bolton Wanderers 3-0 as Clint Dempsey scored a brace and Brede Hangeland found the net once with a brilliant header. The win has taken Fulham to an impressive ninth place in the Barclays Premier League table with 42 points. The Cottagers are now eight points above the relegation zone and look certain to play in the Premier League next season.
The manager was all praise for his side after the win and hailed the team’s recent performances. He revealed that the home side had to face a totally different side in Bolton as compared to Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend, as the Trotters are well known for their physical approach.
Hughes told reporters, “[I] thought we were excellent, [it was a] different test. At the weekend against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 I thought we were excellent in terms of getting the ball down. Tonight [we] had to answer physical questions.”
The tactician admitted that the Cottagers were now safe from going down to the Championship after two important wins in a week. The former Manchester City manager added that the team showed their strength after a poor first half of the season and stated that the comeback of some of the main players has made the difference.
Hughes concluded, “Yes, absolutely. We had a poor result here against West Ham when we didn’t perform on the day. We were in poor position, yet we knew we had an awful lot of players coming back. My teams are always stronger in second half of the season.”
Fulham face Sunderland in their next Premier League fixture at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, 30th April.
