Fulham manager Mark Hughes loses Bobby Zamora, his strategy (Part 1)
The Fulham manager, Mark Hughes, has stated that his star striker Bobby Zamora is out for this season and most part of the next season.
He stated that medical reports from the head officer of the player’s team has informed him that the player will be out of action for the next 5 months and even after that it would be a while before he can regain match fitness as he will have to undergo the
rehabilitation process.
The boss of Craven Cottage, Hughes also clued up that the player had suffered intense ligament damage in his knee and had broken his fibula.
The manager said in a press release that he was indeed very disappointed by the player being sidelined for the next few months. Last season former manager Roy Hodgson, who is now managing at Liverpool, took the club to the 12th position in English
Premier League.
He also took the club to an unprecedented campaign in the Europa League where the club went on to the finals of the tournament only to be defeated in the final moments by Atletico Madrid.
Zamora was a vital player for Hughes, who has arrived from managing at Manchester City where he was sacked in 2009, being replaced by Italian Roberto Mancini.
Hughes will definitely need all the help he can get in order to prove a point in the English League. He had earlier stated in response to the comments from the Light Blue side of Manchester that if he was given the amount of money that Mancini has been allotted
than he too would have driven the club into a better era.
Manchester City has been bought by the rich Sheikh Mansour and since his arrival he has been spending money by the bucket loads.
The 46-year old manager was a legendary Welsh player during his professional playing time. He started his career from Manchester United in 1980 playing in 89 fixtures for them and scoring 37 goals.
In 1986 Hughes joined Barcelona for a season and scored 5 goals in 37 caps for them. In the following season he went on to play for the German club Bayern Munich. There he scored 6 goals in 18 appearances.
The Red Devils eventually realized that they needed their home bred player back and therefore signed him back in 1988. Here he played till 1995, which also saw the club proceeding from the First Division to the Premier League.
With Manchester United he netted 82 goals in 256 appearances and was soon hailed as one of the legends of the club. In the season of 1995 to 1996 he made a change of club again and went to play for Chelsea. His tenure with the Blues lasted till 1998 and
during that period he increased his personal tally by adding 111 matches and 34 goals.
However, Hughes had still more to prove and therefore he played with Southampton from 1998 to 2000 making 61 appearances and 2 goals. From there he went on to play for Everton for 2 more Seasons and with Blackburn for 2 more.
In the end he had acquired 606 appearances and 163 goals with all clubs. He has also featured for Wales 72 times while scoring 16 goals.
Nevertheless, his football career did not end there as the love of football drew him further and he went on to manage his motherland Wales. From a period of 1999 to 2004 he made a change to Blackburn Rovers in 2004 and stayed till 2008. After that came a
season at Manchester City and then his controversial replacement at Fulham.
