Fulham might consider selling Andy Johnson – Premier League Update
Fulham manager Martin Jol has gone on to reveal that the club are currently considering the options that they have regarding the future of Andy Johnson.
The thirty year old currently is currently in the last year of his contract with the Premier League club and should the team not be able to reach an agreement over a new contract before December, they might just consider selling him in the January transfer window.
Despite talks stalling over the player’s future, Jol has revealed that he is partially hopeful over the fact that Johnson will put pen to paper over a new contract and in doing so will see out the rest of his career as a Fulham player.
When talking about Johnson and the situation that he is currently stuck in, Jol is quoted to have said: “We've talked to him over the last month and hopefully we can agree something, but if not we have to get on with it”
“We would like to have Andy on board [for next year], but he's on board [for now] anyway. If he doesn't sign the contract we will continue for this season. It's not a problem.”
The manager then revealed that if a decent offer was made for the player, then the team would have no option, but to let go of the player, since at the end of the day that would be the smarter thing to do.
“If there was a club interested in him you could think about it [selling him], but if not I'm happy for him to stay here until the end of the season.
“But for now we need to get an agreement. Last week I thought we were close. We will talk with him again today and hope we can agree something.”
Johnson has recently managed to go from being the team’s prime choice striker, to being their second favourite. It is unclear as to what the player is currently thinking, but it will now be a wait till January to see just what the forward’s future holds in store for him.
