The Cottagers have acquired the full-back on a year-long loan deal that could turn into a permanent move if the coach is impressed by his abilities.
After years of struggling in the Premier League, under the tutelage of Roy Hodgson, Fulham became a force to be reckoned with and a bogey team for the likes of Manchester United.
Their berth in the final of the UEFA Europa League, clearly showed the progress the club had made but with Hodgson’s departure came a slight era of troubles. The team failed to replicate their earlier performances and were poised to go down until Martin Jol stepped in.
Jol managed to secure a decent 9th placed finish last term and also got the best out of Clint Dempsey, who was the top scorer in the 2011/2012 campaign.
However now that the team is functioning well and the football is back on track, the coach is planning to revive Craven Cottage’s fortunes once again. Attack is Fulham’s strong point but with the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pavel-Pogrebnyak-c29501, the pressure to perform will surely be on Dempsey once more.
Though, high-profile signings are unlikely to happen in this side of London, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sascha-Riether-c32598 has penned a one-year loan deal at the helm, with the option to buy.
As part of the now relegated Cologne side, he will be looking to make his mark and will be hoping that he can make his move to the Premier League permanent.
"I feel very pleased to have signed. It feels like I've had a long break from football and for me this is a new experience in a new country. Fulham is a good club, a big club with a big tradition and for me it's great to be here.”
"I played here one time with Wolfsburg and I remember Craven Cottage being a great stadium with great fans, and I hope I can go on to have a great season here,” he said.
As a versatile left-back c*m midfielder, there will be plenty of chances to shine for the German International and he will surely try his best to convince Martin Jol that his future lies in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and not in the rigours of the 2. Fußball-Bundesliga.
