Fulham striker Moussa Dembele flattered by Tottenham Hotspur interest
Moussa Dembele, the Fulham 24-year-old forward, revealed he was flattered by the interest by English Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur. However, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 international insisted he was currently happy to remain at Craven Cottage, playing under manager
Martin Jol.
With the international break going on, Dembele is on duty with his country where he was informed of the interest by the London side. The Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly already has had an offer rejected for the striker last January, but is determined
to try and sign him in the upcoming January transfer window.
Redknapp was willing to pay as much as £10 million for Dembele, who signed for Fulham from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar in 2010 for an inflated fee of £5 million. So far the Belgian forward has made a total of 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring 6 goals and making
two assists.
He admitted he was aware of the interest by Tottenham Hotspur but planned to stay with Fulham for the meantime. Dembele said while speaking to reporters:
“Yes, I was asked about the links with Spurs and I did respond that I was flattered by interest in me because it means I am playing well, nothing more.
However, I am happy at Fulham and I am under contract here.”
According to the 24-year-old he was making progress under the Fulham manager, because of which he felt it was important to continue at Craven Cottage. While already excellent striker, Dembele is aware he still has to further develop if he wishes to become
one of the top strikers in the Premier League.
He revealed:
“I am making progress under Martin Jol and adding further dimensions to my game, so I'm happy playing here.”
Dembele continued:
“I want to assure the manager, the fans and of course the chairman, I am fully committed to the club and that any links with other clubs are nothing but speculation, and something I am not even thinking about at this time.”
However, he admitted a move to White Hart Lane would be a good move for him maybe further down his career since the London side was a much bigger club than Fulham. The Belgian striker will return to Fulham once he is relieved from international duty.
He said:
“It would obviously be a step higher and that has always been my goal.”
