Fulham versus Liverpool – First half review: English Premier League (Part 2)
Following Liverpool’s explosive start to the encounter against Fulham , something that was exemplified by their first minute goal through Maxi Rodriguez, the Reds went onto build on their domination by controlling the tempo and
the pace of the match at Craven Cottage. Fulham were hassled in the midfield area as the Merseyside Reds quickly pressed their opponents whenever they were without the possession of the ball. Not only that, Liverpool’s back line dealt with Dembele’s movement
and pace whilst also catering for Eidur Gudjohnsen’s flicks and tricks.
In the 7th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 added to their one goal advantage as Maxi Rodriguez netted his second goal of the match. This time the Argentinean midfielder unleashed a brilliant volley at Fulham’s goal after connecting
superbly with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glen-Johnson-c15050’s cross from the right wing. The former Atletico Madrid trickster left Mark Schwarzer paralyzed due to the power of his shot as the score line reached 0-2 in favour of the away side at Craven Cottage.
In the 15th minute, Liverpool had a legitimate appeal for a penalty kick as Luis Suarez was played in by Maxi Rodriguez’s through ball. The former Ajax striker latched onto the pass but then he was bundled over by Brede
Hangeland inside the Fulham penalty area. Liverpool’s players protested with the referee but he deemed Hangeland’s challenge as a fair one as Mark Schwarzer came out of his six yard box to claim the ball.
However justice was done in the 16th minute when Liverpool’s away support rejoiced once more. This time Mark Schwarzer was at fault as he allowed Dirk Kuyt’s weak effort to sneak past him at the near post. The Australian
goalkeeper was left in shambles as Liverpool gained a three goal advantage against Fulham in London.
In the 34th minute, Fulham had a wonderful chance to draw pull a goal back before the half time break. It was Clint Dempsey who found himself in space just outside the Liverpool penalty area. The American midfielder
fired off a spectacular volley at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Murphy but the Englishman’s set piece was easily headed
away by Martin Skrtel.
Right at the cusp of the half time whistle, Clint Dempsey went into the referee’s book after he lunged in on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jay-Spearing-c18106 near the half way line. The referee thus brandished a yellow card for Dempsey as the first half came to a
close shortly after with the score line at 0-3 in favour of Liverpool. The Reds scored their first two goals through Maxi Rodriguez whereas Kuyt added a third thanks to some shambolic goalkeeping by Mark Schwarzer.
