Fulham versus Radnicki Split – Europa League Qualification: First half review (Part 2)
After dominating the first 10 minutes of their Europa League qualification playoff against Radnicki, Fulham pushed onwards for the winner in the 11th minute when Damien Duff was sent http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-c40298 through on goal courtesy of
a fine through ball by Etuhu from the midfield area. The Irishman was unable to steer away from his marker who got the better of him eventually as Fulham surrendered possession of the football. In the 14th minute of the match, Fulham were awarded
a corner kick by the referee.
This time Murphy whipped in a cross towards Duff who was emphatically outmuscled by Milovic but the Croatian centre back’s clearance only resulted in another corner for the home team. Murphy’s cross into the box this time around
was not an accurate one as it sailed over everyone in the Radnicki penalty area and went out of play for a goal kick for the away side. In the 19th minute, Fulham finally broke the deadlock that was prevailing between the two teams at Craven Cottage.
Damien Duff took the home team’s corner kick and he found Andy Johnson at the near post whose glanced header sneaked into the Radnicki goal to make it one goal to nil on the night to the home team. It was a typical training ground
routine by Fulham which paid of superbly for the London club. In the 21st minute, Baraban took the game by the scruff of the neck and applied pressure on Fulham’s weak defence.
The Croatian striker slid in to win the ball just outside his team’s penalty area and then embarked on a one-two exchanged with his team’s winger. However upon reaching the opposite end of the field through his marvellous run,
Baraban was unable to produce the appropriate finish as his shot sailed over the cross bar. In the 23rd minute, Radnicki once again marched forwards, this time Budisa was released down the right hand side with a raking through ball but the young
winger was unable to direct his ensuing cross towards a team mate into the Fulham penalty area as the move broke down.
In the 28th minute, Clint Dempsey almost scored Fulham’s second goal of the night. Dempsey drove down the right hand side and then cut in on his left foot to a good effect. The American midfielder then tried his luck
at Radnicki’s goal but his curled effort just missed the target in question by a few inches as the score line remained at one nil to Fulham. Nonetheless, the first half came to an end shortly after. Both the teams did well in the first half but Fulham just
about edged it due to Andy Johnson’s header.
