Fulham versus Radnicki Split – Europa League Qualification: Second half review (Part 1)
After disappointing their travelling fans in the first half against Fulham at the Craven Cottage, Radnicki stepped up their game in the second half as they were awarded a free kick at the beginning in the 48th minute
of the match. The free kick came about as a result of Hangeland’s reckless challenge at the edge of his team’s penalty area. Vitaic stepped up to take the free kick but his effort just missed the Fulham goal as it was swerving from right to left from the moment
it struck the midfielder’s foot.
Radnicki’s positive approach created a problem for Fulham at the start of the second half. Their resurgent attitude and high pressing up the field made it difficult for the home team to stroke the ball around. Hughes and Hangeland
at the back were hurried into mistakes time and again as Fulham lost their cool and threatened to lose their lead. Finally in the 53rd minute of the match, Fulham broke forward with a quick counter attack. The sheer speed of the attack caught Radnicki
by surprise but in the end Damien Duff’s cross had too much power and as a result Bobby http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zamora-c40983 was unable to get his head to hit to direct it into the back of the net.
In the 54th minute, Radnicki had a brilliant chance to equalize when Marcic found himself in space inside the Fulham penalty area after both Cop and Baraban missed their headers inside the six yard box. Fortunately for
the home team, Marcic’s shot missed the Fulham goal by a few feet and as a result the score line stayed at one nil to Martin Jol’s men.
Fulham doubled their lead albeit against the run of play in the second half at the 55th minute mark. Fulham threw their weight behind yet another attack and this time Radnicki were caught napping in defence as Vidic
made a last ditch tackle to stop Andy Johnson. Unluckily for the Croatian centre back, the tackle was mistimed as Johnson made it to the ball before him. The referee was on hand to spot the infringement and signalled to the spot straight away.
It was Murphy who stepped up to take the penalty kick in the end and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 man made no mistake with his shot as he placed the ball in the bottom left corner of the Radnicki net after sending the goalkeeper the wrong
way. With the score line at 2-0, Fulham regained their confidence through their latest goal as they were out played by Radnicki for most of the second half until the goal came.
