Fulham versus Radnicki Split – Europa League Qualification: Second half review (Part 2)
After conceding the second goal of the match against Fulham in their Europa League qualification playoff at Craven Cottage, Radnicki attempted to pull a goal back in the 58th minute when Baraban’s cross found Cop in
space just outside the Fulham penalty area. However Cop’s illustrious yet ambitious overhead kick was not well executed at all as the ball missed the Fulham goal by a large margin.
Right the from the goal kick, Fulham embarked on an impressive counter attack and Johnson slotted the ball home but the referee’s whistle meant that the Englishman’s second goal of the night was disallowed as he was in an offside
position when the ball was played to him. Johnson tried to appeal his innocence to the referee but he was booked for his protests as the match official brandished a yellow card for him.
In the 60th minute, Radnicki opted to make their first change of the night as Obilinovic was thrown into the fray by the Croatian giants. He replaced the departing Baraban in the away team’s attack. In the 61st
minute, Radnicki came closest to pulling a goal back as Milovic found himself in space inside the Fulham penalty area. Evading the attentions of Hangeland and Senderos, the Croatian striker slid in to make contact with the ball but his shot struck the goal
post and went out of play for a Fulham goal kick.
In the 66th minute, the ball fell to Simic inside the Fulham penalty area but he was unable to make a clean contact with the ball as it sailed straight into Mark Schwarzer’s hands in the Fulham goal as the score line
remained at two nil to the London club. In the 72nd minute, Damien Duff threatened to add to Fulham’s two goal advantage at the Craven Cottage as the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 man let loose a wonderful volley at Radnicki’s goal from outside their penalty area.
Luckily for the away team, his volley failed to force a save out of the away team’s goal keeper.
Right before the full time whistle, Schwarzer bailed his team out of trouble once again. This time the acrobatic experienced Australian goalkeeper dove down to his right to tip away a shot by Simic from 25 yards out. The Croatian
midfielder attempted to blitz the ball past the Fulham goalkeeper but Schwarzer did extremely well to track the flight of the ball and tip it away in the end. Eventually the referee blew the full time whistle and Fulham’s two goal win over Radnicki meant that
they progressed to the next stage of the Europa League.
