Fulham’s Mark Schwarzer declares possibility of a transfer to Arsenal in January
The 38 year old Australian international, Mark Schwarzer has announced that he can’t rule out the chance of a possible move to Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Fulham’s no.1 glove man is expected to join the Gunners ranks in the 2nd leg of the season as the North Londoners are looking for a goal keeper.
Earlier it had been reported that there is strong chance of an unofficial bid for Schwarzer in the winter transfer opportunity. Media reports had concluded the former Middlesbrough shot stopper will sign in a year or two playing
deal with the club.
However that was just part of the deal as it was further informed that Schwarzer will remain at the club and take up responsibility as the goal keeping coach for the young Arsenal players.
The current goal keeper of Arsenal Manuel Almunia is out of action because of an injury but the Gunners fans are not worried, in fact they sighing relief. It was Almunia because of whom they lost the title last year as they lost
at least 20 points because of goal keeping errors.
Their reserve goal keeper Lukasz Fabianski is currently performing the duty between the posts and though he is considered no good than Almunia, (having produced blunders himself overtime), he has delivered a satisfactory job in
recent times.
The new rising goal keeping youth of Arsenal is considered to be very talented therefore it seems that the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants his youth to be trained by one of the best (Schwarzer).
The glove man of Craven Cottage was just about to be signed in the summers. Sources had revealed that Wenger had an excess of 50 million pounds that were handed to him as a reward and he was allowed to spend them all on the players
he desired to be at the club.
However at the end Wenger used a minimal amount from it and still had about 45 million pounds in his pocket. This was a shocking move from the “Professor”, and it still can’t be explained.
Earlier in the summers and now again Fulham have pictured an image in which they will deny bids from North London. However, truth be told, the Cottagers from west of London do need the money henceforth a deal might actually be
in their favour.
Schwarzer himself though has shown the desire to make a switch to Arsenal but he has also been unable to produce a clear answer on the issue.
In a press release he has stated, “Who knows, we will have to wait and see. I'm very happy at Fulham. The supporters have been unbelievable and I've enjoyed every minute.”
He stated that he appreciated and prized the time he had spent with the Cottagers, “It's been a very hectic two months or so and the fans have been great to me. I am enjoying my football again.”
This conflicting statement could actually have been an indication towards his farewell from Craven Cottage, but on the other hand the praise and loyalty could refer to him having a back plan and staying with the club.
