  1. for the entire disney experience i say  dedicate  a full 7 days  that would give you time to see all 4 major parks   and  be able to see them all the way and might be able to slip u p an see spectro magic twice and fantazmic.   the parks are very large so  you want to dedicate your time and be able to see it all  u can get away with 6 or so  but i would recommend the 7th day also .  you can stay on disney property it will cost you  but  in the long run  it will save you  due to if u are from out of town u can take the buses they provide also every day there is one park open 1 hr earlyer and some times one park open 2 hrs later  at least their is one open 1 hr later only for people staying on disney property   trust me the lines are shorter. you can also sign up if u are staying on property and buy meal cards or meal vouchers all depends on now how much it is but normally its 15.00 a day and you get  2 snacks  1 ice cream a bottle of water and a fountain drink along with a meal for that price. not a sit down but burger fries type thing  you can always look into the price that way you don't have to fuss with anything other then have fun  no food shopping and no real worry on what you plan to eat. so they have the plus side and negative side to it only you can weigh out what its worth  but i would strongly recomend a package price

  2. Go during the week

    Monday-Friday=that shoud be 5 days

Because there are less people who go there during the week.

So my suggestion is for you to go during the week and when the kids are at school,

    Good Luck

  3. Its gonna cost you

  4. Disney World has four different theme parks.  If you want to go to them all, you need a minimum of four days.  My personal best-length trip is about 10 days.  It is ideal because I take a few days to do things other than the parks, but I still also get to do everything at the parks.  I have also done a lot of week-long trips, where I go to the parks for 5 days and leave resting, shopping, and travel for the other 2 days.

Staying at the resorts - I always stay off-site at a house now.  But for my first few trips, I stayed on-site, and I do think it is easier for your first trip.  There are a couple of advantages, such as you can use Disney's transportation to get everywhere, and you get Extra Magic Hours (hours in the morning or evening when the park is open only to resort guests).

Disney World is a massive complex and can be intimidating, and staying on-site just cuts the intimidation factor a little.  That being said, unless you spend the big bucks and get one of the fancy rooms, no, the room itself is not worth it.  It's the perks that people love.  If you don't mind driving in yourself every day, and you don't mind missing the extra hours, it's fine staying off-site.  Actually, it's kind of a nice break to leave the hustle-bustle of the park area and escape outside of it altogether.

Hint: if you decide to stay off-site, find out what parks are having extra magic hours in the morning, and go to another park.  Get there close to opening time, and it will be low crowds.
