I don't really know if this is true, but I thought it was kind of strange that there was a Russian song involving FMA you know, Bratya. So, I thought I heard somewhere that the story was actually russian.... I kind of doubt it, but is it by any chance true, is there really a story of an Alchemist from Russia? Or is it all just a little rumor I heard? -dramatic music-

  1. idk, maybe that's true, that cud b possible

  2. Really? i'm not sure but Honeheim (sp?) is german...

  3. *pompadamdam*

    :) I highly doubt it.

(I can't say 'No!' because there is always the teeny tiny chance I'm wrong...)

And - most of the people didn't even know it was in Russian. A lot of them thought it was Japanese... So... Heh. :D

Anyway-ing here are my reasons. Ahem:

Since Hiromu Arakawa drew the manga in Japanese.

Which was later made into an anime... and movie...

And another anime is now going to be made... YAY!

While she hopefully finishes the manga after a lot lot of chapters.

In fact Hiromu Arakawa is not exactly completely fluent in English (Or so I've read - I'm going to guess if she's not English crazy - Russian just seems a tad - off the mark).

(That's also why it takes a while before the official translated English version of the manga comes out.)

Anyway, the Russian track "Brothers" (Russian: Братья, Bratja; Japanese: Burācha) - I think that's just in there because they liked the sound of it.

The composer - Michiru Oshima - is a Japanese composer. So - it seems all the more likely the lyrics being in Russian was a mere whim.

As to there being a story of an alchemist from Russia which Hiromu Arakawa ripped off and masqueraded as her own... *requests Winry to throw a wrench at you*

Or maybe there is some hidden joke among the Bones staff that we will never ever know... Hmm...

    *dramatic pause*

Something about Russian spies and so on... Or she met a Russian hottie and decided to woo him with a song and all in Russian... You know... Eh.

    *strained dramatic pause*

    *silence*

No... FMA has its deep roots in Japan. Even if the world is based on  some sort of Fictional-European-Industrial Revolution-World - the one who drew it - came from Japan.

    :)

Sidenote: I love the instrumental version of that song

    Sidenote 2: FMA 2 (2009) MANGA based is coming - YAY! :D

  4. Yes it is Russian
