Full dinner or a cocktail party?

Which do you like better as a guest?

Since my previous question was too vague to some, hopefully this clears things up. If you were travelling to attend a wedding, would you rather have the more "formal" atmosphere with a full dinner (regardless if it sitdown plate, buffet, family style, etc) or would you prefer more of a party type vibe with heavy hors d'ouerves that are filling enough to take the place of dinner (both passed by waiters and available at stations)?

I'd prefer a full sit down dinner.  

Appetizers can be served before dinner if you are taking a break for photos.  

I am a picky eater and with appetizers, there are never enough options for me.  And they are simply a pain to deal with.

I would prefer a full dinner. I usually don't eat before parts because I don't want to have to use the rest room before hand or at the reception. Because I am that much of a loser.

And a whole meal that you don't have to cook is always great.

Dinner. I don't care if it is formal, but if your wedding is at dinnertime, please serve me a full meal. If the reception starts after 8, I would be fine with just hors d'oeuvres.

Buffet dinner...best of both worlds IMO....and just because it's buffet/sit down doesn't mean you can't party..my family does!

if its in your budget go with the full dinner, its so much nicer and as a guest i would like that better:)

Either one works for me as long as the food is good and there is enough for all!

I have been to many weddings, and I would prefer the buffet. You can take what you like, of what ever you like, and not waste food. It is a good way to talk to people and enjoy yourself.
