Question:

Full ferning but negative urine-OPK?

I am TTC and using ferning microscope and OPK (urine) to see when I ovulate. My cycles are regular so this is just a back up.

Last night (Day 10 of my 25-day cycle), I had full ferning on the microscope while my urine test showed negative (a barely visible test line).

What does this mean?

  1. Ferning in your spit is caused by the hormones which indicate ovlation is ABOUT to happen, so the next three or four days are your most fertile. The urine tests are much less reliable as they can be affected by water content of urine/time if day etc. Also they are sensitive to different things, so don't register until later. I'd go for it!

  2. i did the saliva ferning test thing when i was ttc, it usually starts ferning about 3-4 days before ovulation. and the opk's i used only showed positive 1 day before ovulation so start having s*x!!
