  1. It's the three 5s that make the difference.

The way a full house is described is usually, for example "Full House, Fives over Eights" or sometimes just "Full House, Fives over"

The only time the pair matters is when 2 players have the same 3-of-a-kind.

In a game with a community (Texas Hold'em or Omaha, for example) it's possible for one player to have 55588 and another to have 555AA.  Then the 555AA wins.

  2. Triple pair, 5's win

  3. The three 5's over the two 8's is higher.  As the dealer will look at the three of a kind before pairs, so yes it does matter the three of a kind being higher.

  4. the highest triple would win

  5. 55588 beats 333AA. You go by the three of a kind first.

  6. highest triple wins

  7. [55588] wins

    the triple matters first.
