  1. Depends on the school and the scholarship. Academic ones usually establish cut-offs by grades, gpa, and/or class rank, and then go into your extracurriculars, leadership, etc.

Obviously Harvard wouldn't give you a full merit-based scholarship, but other schools might.

    (in the US)

Also if you took/take the PSAT in your junior year and score sufficiently high enough to become a National Merit Semi-Finalist, your grades should be enough to carry you into Finalist standing (though they want SAT scores, an essay, and extracurriculars as well), certain schools will take note of that and try to recruit you w/offers.

  2. It depends on the scholarship - the eligibility and selection criteria of the scholarship should explain this.

Some scholarships will look at your academic standing/grades ONLY, but most will also look at your leadership skills, community service, extracurricular abilities, reference letters, and sometimes financial need (depending on whether it is a merit or a need-based scholarship).

    Good luck!

  3. An academic scholarship would only look at academics wouldn't it?

  4. If you  apply for a academic scholarship you should get it. It depends on the types of classes you have taken because anyone can take easy classes just to get good grades, I know someone who received an academic scholarship and got it because of their grades alone( and they took hard classes). Just don't apply for an athletic scholarship :)
