what could happen if i ride my horse bareback on a hot day in full seat breeches?

i've begun riding bareback more in the heat-but the sweat is gross and a saddle pad isn't working.. so i was wondering if i could just use my full seat breeches.

any insight appreciated!

thanks!

  1. It'll be fine, but I'm not sure how much it will help. You'll still be sweaty, but with fullseat breeches it might help. However, if your horse is really sweaty, and you get on with fullseat breeches and the "leather"(aka seat part) gets sweaty and wet, It will STAY sweaty and wet. I always do it, it's not that big a deal. The fullseat will reduce sweatiness due to the fabric from the non-seat-area(?) and can help block sweat out.

It will depend a lot on your breeches. I usually ride in black fullseat breeches, but the material keeps the sweat out when I'm riding bareback. Just keep in mind that it will also keep the sweat in. And that can be disgusto nasto.

  2. I would say; give it ago. You will still feel hot and sticky, and the hair will still stick.

Be careful, not to ruin them if they are your best ones!

  3. It might help the sweatiness a little bit. You'll at least have a thicker suede or some kind of material to slow the "sweat soak". Don't buy them if you don't want to get them trashed...because they'll get dirty and sweat-stained and...all kinds of things.

There are bareback pads that are like a fuzzy saddlepad with a grith. You might look into that instead just for a little extra protection.
