Full time college course...............

Im not happy! the college course I am on is 16 hours per week plus coursework! it is deemed full time by both the college and the job centre. However, to make me eligble to be exempt from council tax the local council are saying the beleive full time to be 21 hours a week? it doesnt make sense! anyone know my rights? thanks

  1. Your college will be very use to issuing student certificates for the purpose of council tax. If you are eligible to have one, they will issue you with one. It must contain the name of the course, the date you start and finish and the hours per week.

    The rule is 21 hours a week. It depends on what the college says your full time study hours are on the certificate.


  2. I think the rules are rather silly these days to be honest, I would either appeal or ask the college to put something in writing for your local council.
