Question:

Full time mothers - How do you plan your days?

Wasn't sure how to word the question, but I will be in Sept and am planning to blitz the house, every cupboard and drawer. Massive clearout and more interesting cooking.

I am most looking forward to having time to take up a course, swimming for fitness and other exercise classes.

  1. I start my day making coffee and my husband's lunch. Once he is out I slip over to Curves for a 30 minute workout.  Then return to a cup of tea before everything else gets going.

Once everyone is out of the way I usually pick a room a day.  They will always mess up behind you so its best to work on the important ones first.  That is the kitchen and at least Clorox the bathrooms.  Cupboards are good you always find stuff that shouldn't be there, like when cleaning a cupboard last week I found a bag of rice had split, that was fun cleaning up!  It's good too so you can find out what you need to buy once you start cooking.

Bedrooms should be cleaned by whoever is sleeping in them, laundry depends on the ages of your kids but mine was doing the laundry by age 10 and had no problems.  We just made sure everyone had their day that way nobody was trying to rush the other.

  2. I don't, I just let them happen.

  3. I didn't do allot of planning, but that just depends on your personality.

I am glad to hear you are going to stay at home with your child.

All the things you mentioned are good, but you will probably be kinda tired for a while. It is a tough job.

  4. Oh, for me it's always been children first - plan what to do, where to go, what activities are fun for that day and we haven't done in a while. Do some reading, singing - all that fun stuff!

For me, as a mom, cleaning is definitely last. We may be messy but we are clean. As for classes, maybe sometime in the evening when husband is home, but it's not a priority as we need to spend time all together as a family.

  5. I just want to say, I wish I had this problem of how to plan my days.  I need to work full-time to support our family.  I am jealous!

  6. Either step by step, or as they happen. Says my mom.

  7. I obviously spend time w/the kids (oldest is a 3rd grader, youngest just started preschool) clean house, cook, take care of bills/homework/shopping (everything that comes w/keeping house). I raise chickens as my own personal endeavor for meat and eggs. I now have 3 days a week in 3 hour intervals for the first time in almost 9 years. I'll be deep cleaning and hopefully taking some kind of class soon!
