Full time report: Manchester United Vs Sunderland.
It was all three points for Manchester United as they managed to extend their lead at the top of the table. With title rivals Arsenal and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 to mix it up tomorrow, any slip ups here would have damaged United’s position on top of the premier league.
However, that was not to be the case this season as Manchester United deservingly won all three points for themselves. A brilliant brace from Dimitar Berbatov was enough to secure all the points for the Red Devils.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Fletcher-c10361 missing, it was upto to the likes of Anderson and J.S. Park to prove their point. A brilliant
run from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 set things up for Wayne Rooney who then found Berbatov on the run. The English International managed a perfect cross for Berbatov, who then managed a cool finish with his head. United had opportunities to put the game away when both Anderson
and Berbatov hit the post.
In the later periods of the first half, Sunderland enjoyed good run of possession but still couldn’t have a shot on target. Van Der Sar had little to do in the first half as most of the game took place in Sunderland’s half.
At half time, United had a comfortable lead over Steve Bruce’s men.
The second half started with Sunderland finally taking a shot on target. Al Mohammadi managed a good shot on target but was too weak to trouble the Dutchman. United then held the ball for long periods of time, as statistics showed they had 74% of possession.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anton-Ferdinand-c6260. The Bulgarian was found by Anderson at the edge of the box and who then managed a brilliant shot from the outside of his right foot. The ball was deflected, giving the
visiting goal keeper no chance to save it.
With a two goal cushion, Anderson and Ryan Giggs were taken off to make way for youngsters http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Federico-Macheda-c13475 and Darren Gibson. Both of them needed to be given some minutes under their belts. A final substitution was made when Berbatov was replaced
by Javier Hernandez. Wayne Rooney had a good evening and looked dangerous for the entire 90 minutes. The 24 year old may still have to wait to end his goal drought in open play but is such an important player for United that he cannot be left out. The player
would still be chosen in the big games instead of Berbatov, despite the Bulgarian enjoying the best goal scoring form of his career.
Sunderland had no chance to pull one back and didn’t even go close to scare the goalkeeper. Manchester United are now 5 points ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea and a draw tomorrow would be the best result for the Red Devils. Sir Alex Ferguson
seemed content with his player’s performance and would now be concentrating on a tricky trip to St Andrews in the next 48 hours.
