Fully fit Rajon Rondo is ready for basketball action – NBA News
The NBA lockout seems destined to wipe out a major portion of the next season, if not the whole of it. The work stoppage had proved to be a bitter pill to swallow for the players, arena worker and owners alike.
However, for Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, the lockout has not been so awful in fact it proved to be a blessing in disguise. Rondo has achieved a lot during the extended offseason. His dislocated knee is now completely
healed; he has been touring the country for different marketing ventures and also got the chance to continue his education at the University of Kentucky.
Rondo is the future of Boston Celtics. In what might be the last championship for Celtics with current set of rosters, he will be the youngest All-Star in the team but only if the season is not eaten away by the lockout.
Yesterday, Rondo showed up at the Boston Bookstore to sign magazine covers accentuating his photo and naturally his presence attracted lot of media who had arrived hours earlier than Rondo. Once, Rondo was done with signing the
magazines, Media surrounded the point guard inquiring him about how he is spending the extended offseason and his stand on the lockout to which he replied
“I hope there’s a season, I’m looking forward to it and everyone around the league is, even the fans. It’s just an extended vacation as far as trying to continue to train and get better. It’s more time for me to work on my game,
and that’s how I try to face it in the next couple of weeks or months or whatever we have. Right now my focus is to play with the Celtics’’
Celtics will come in the season with a lot of work load. They only have seven signed players and two rookies at the moment so management will have their work cut out when the season starts. There will be new faces, formation of
different strategy and several other things. Rondo remembers how Miami Heat humiliated Celtics last season when he got injured so he would be looking to avenge the defeat. According to him, focus will be on helping the new rosters in adjusting quickly to the
new setup.
“It will be different makeup, a lot of different guys, so a lot of new faces around the city, but we’ll try to get them accustomed to"
Rondo has been playing pickup games and exhibition matches to stay fit and though he would not be fully in shape because of the cancellation of training camps, he is looking forward for an intensive workout once the lockout ends.
However, this summer may not have been the best in terms of his basketball career, but he thoroughly enjoyed it by keeping himself busy and now he is looking forward to some NBA action.
