Fumes from rubber floor mats.?

My mom just got these rubber floor mats, like the ones that look like big puzzle pieces, the fumes from them smell really strong throughout the house. They are in the basement and I live in the basement so the smell is the strongest. I was wondering if the fumes would be dangerious to inhale if I live and sleep down here. Thanks.

I would suggest you set them outside for a day or two if possible to get the odor out of them.  It would burn my eyes if I had to stay down there with them.
