Question:

Fun Fitness Activities?

I think it's important to stay healthy and fit. I alternate between going to the gym and running, but I am getting bored of this routine. I need to spice it up. Do you have any suggestions of ways to stay active that are more fun than traditional exercise styles? I am open to new and unconventional ideas. Thanks a lot for all your input, I'm looking for as many ideas as possible!

P.S. I'm not very good at team sports at all, so I'm sorry if this is limiting or makes it hard to think of activities.

  1. Do you usally do all of this alone? If so, find a friend, family member and etc. that would like to come along and work out with you! It's much more fun and you usually are more motivated then being alone.

  2. mountain climbing bike riding walk your dog

  3. Lots of gyms have exercise classes like 24 hour fitness.  Find one that suits you and stay with it because they change up as they go as to not bore.  Go swimming or go on a bike ride, that will mix it up a bit.

  4. Go to the playground.

I'm serious. Get a couple friends and find the nearest playground (with swings). Run around. Swing on the swings (tighten your abs and lean back when pumping...you use arm, leg, and ab muscles.) Play on the jungle gym, and climb up the slide.

Basically, act like a little kid. You can even take a playground ball with you and play with your friends. You'll get exercise just running after the ball you can't catch. ;-)

Bowling is another fun option. Pace around instead of sitting down in between frames.

  5. Try swimming (swimming laps) I think this uses more muscles than running (not sure) so you end up burning more calories. I enjoy roller blading, but I know a lot of people find it hard if they've never tried it before.
