I'm visiting my cousins this week, a 7-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy, and I'm going to make then a cake! But, I don't know what to put on it. It's not for any special occasion, but I need an idea for a design, some words, or a picture to make out of cake

Also, it can't be too complicated because I'm making it with icing, and i can only use two or three colors

It's going to be a 9"round cake, two layers

Thank You!

  1. I saw this while looking through a cookbook for Jello one day, and it looked like a cute idea. bake the cakes, put them together and cut out a rectangle through both layers. Take that out, and eat it, throw it out, whatever. You don't need them anymore. Make some blue Jello, and when it is not all the way hardened, pour it into the rectangle of the cake. Frost around it afterwards, and add some Teddy Grahams as people, put some Gummy Life Savers around them and tubes, and maybe stick some in the Jello so it makes them look like they are swimming! This doesn't look to complicated, and you will only need maybe one or two colors of frosting.

  2. For my sons birthday I made a chocolate fudge cake and let the children decorate it them selves with an assortment of sweets - so they just covered it. I did put a layer of fudge sauce all over so they'd stick.

  3. a butterfly would be cool

  4. Take a picture of both of them and cut it out. Decorate around it..

  5. i wood say ice cream cake!! there yummy.. but if ur like goin to decorate it then dont use ice cream.. by for a design..  wood make like butterflies and flowers and stuff like that.. so does that help a little??

  6. You should put their favorite disney characters or sports on it...or maybe just fun swirlies.

  7. A couple of weeks ago I was watching food network and Sandra Lee of Semi home made did a couple of fun cakes for kids. I really liked the tie died cake she made. She did the gel icing in a couple of different colors in straight lines going across the cake, then she took a tooth pick and dragged it through the colors in the opposite direction to make the colors run. Between lines, she cleaned off the toothpick to keep it clean. The other way was swirls, she did circles in the different colors and tooth the toothpick and swirled the colors around. 8. You want a fun, silly cake? Look at http://www.womansday.com  for their Big Mac cake. If that's not to your liking, just look at their other silly cakes.

  9. you should make a that was easy button cake

  10. Turn your cake into a huge cupcake

ice around the side of the cake

Swirl the top with icing with a different colour then the side , Sprinkle the top of the cake with coloured sprinkles and then put five Cherry's in the middle

I made one  for my son's 5th birthday and the kids couldn't believe there eyes it was soooo funny they said it was the biggest cup cake they had ever seen.

  11. There were some cupcakes in a magazine I just got that you could adapt to the top of a cake:  Put a few oreo cookies on top, and pipe some yellow petals around them (for sunflowers - you can even use the storebought frosting in the squirt can)...  They used some spearmint candy for leaves.... and red M&Ms, with a black/brown icing line down the back, and a few dots, for ladybugs......

  12. just do a chocolate cake. keep it simple for you, put some chocolate icing on it, and you have two very happy kids. if you decorate it you run the chance of making something that either the boy or girl will not like. make a chocolate or yellow cake with chocolate frosting and you are there favorite cousin.
