Fun Question For Homeschoolers?

What is the question you answer the most about homeschooling, asked by your friends.

Mine are: Do you like it? Would you rather be in " Real" school? and Can you go to school in your PJ's?

well im currently doing independent study and everyone always asks: ey how come you never go to school, i say i am homeschooled.

do you get to sleep in , i say no i wake up like i would for normal school

haha. People ask me: Why on earth am I homeschooled? How late do I get to sleep in the morning? If I'm as smart as them? Also if I get to wear my pajamas to school? And if I have any friends.

Meaning: What took you so long to decide to homeschool?

I'm a homeschool mom, and the question that I get asked most is, "Don't you worry about their social development?"

Next is, "What about college?"

The one that really gets me though is, "How can you stand to be around your kids all the time?"

I usually answer that by saying that if I didn't like kids I wouldn't have had any, or by saying that if actually teach kids to respect adults, they are pleasant to be around.

Mostly I get asked, "How do you do it?!" with a look of amazement as they take in my seven kids standing with me.

I generally don't answer questions about homeschooling unless someone is earnestly wanting to know more about it, because it often comes out as justification, like I'm wrong or something.

I was out shopping with my friends and grabbed some jeans to try on. My friend asked me, "What do you need those for? You just lay around in your PJs all day." That offended me pretty bad. I just replied, "Actually, I shower and get dressed before I start school in the morning. And I do leave the house everyday. So sorry, but I do need them."

I am in college now, but when I was homeschool I was constantly asked, "What do you do when your work is done?"  Usually I would answer : "I read the dictionary and then I listen to opera."  All with a straight face.  It was priceless.

I usually get asked what grade I'm in. How much work i get every day. And my favorite, "Did you ever want to go to a "real" school?"

And my answer is; "Senior. About 3-4 hours a day. And no. I wish to go to a make believe school underneath the sea." And then they look at me like im weird...which is justifiable.

"Don't you miss hanging out at school?" I say, "No, I still have friends....and go to co-op."

"Can you do school in what ever clothes you want?" I say "Yeah, I'm just at home."

"Do you like it?" I say "Yeah! Love it!"
