Question:

Fun activities for a 10-yr old girl?

My daughter is transitioning into a new age group. Many things she used to enjoy aren't entertaining to her anymore because she has matured beyond most of the activities. I really want to keep her active and interested in the world around her, but I'm stumped on where to start. Crafts, which used to occupy lots of her free time are becoming boring to her. (been there, done that kind of thing) Any activity suggestions for this age group that will get me started in the right direction?

  1. Have you tried taking her to a specialty craft store and letting her check out lessons to learn a specific art? They definitely have a more classy feeling to them than the craft aisle at WalMart or JoAnn's or Michael's, and being around adults who see her as a peer and take her seriously could be a great benefit as well. Ask her if there's anything she's interested in-try a car ride somewhere to get her talking more freely ( I always found it much easier to talk to someone at that age if I didn't have to look at them the whole time). Check your local library for a list of activities-dance, swimming, gymnastics, instruments, voice and soooooo much more. 10 was such an awkward stage for me-but it's also about the same time that I picked up counted cross stitch, and it has been my therapy ever since. :) Good luck to you and your daughter.

  2. A trip down the shore (if your near the beach) is always great, also i started with instruments and singing at that age and i LOVE IT to this day
