Question:

Fun and affordable, downtown Toronto restaurant?

Looking for a restaurant with a great atmosphere in the Toronto downtown area. Something that's not going to cost an arm and a leg, as there will be five of us.

We're trying to avoid chain restaurants, as we can visit those at home.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

  1. You could try Young Thailand. I'm not much of a spicy food person, but I loved the food here! It wasn't terribly expensive either, plus the service is friendly and speedy (even on a busy night).

  2. Do you like Southern BBQ then try Phil's BBQ at College & Ossington.

They always get great reviews and I've been eating there for years.

  5. Mr. Greenjeans is a very nice place to go and eat. It was one of my favourite restaurants when I was living in Canada.

It's conviniently located downtown Toronto in Eaton's Centre.

The food is delicious and they've got quite a range of food and beverage.

Atmosphere-wise, it's a cosy place to dine and hang out. The interior resembles an indoor garden.

Price-wise, it's really not expensive. Although it's not dirt cheap either. We were students at the time. Obviously we didn't go everyday. But yea, we could afford it. So it's definitely worth going =)

    Have fun!

  6. Ho Su is by far the best Sushi Resturant in Toronto. But they dont just serve sushi they serve everything. Just google Ho SU to check out the menu It is cheap and delicious. They have a great Queen and John locaition that is right near much music. Green mango is pretty cool too.

  7. The Best place to go is this great Thai restaurant in downtown Toronto called Salad King.

I have no idea why it's called that, as they don't even have salad on the menu! The food is outstanding!

It's really fun to order there, because they have a hotness scale on the ceiling which indicates the temperature of your food called the "Chili Scale"

The atmosphere is an fabulous. The interior design is an award winning space.

AND it is So reasonable! For instance Curry Noodles with chicken is $7.95

There is usually a line to get in, and that is a sure thing that the food is good!

  8. The Whistling Oyster

It great they have HAPPY HOUR From 3-6 and 9-12 it is located on King St just east of Dunken St

    321 King Street West

    (Main Floor)

    Toronto, ON M5V 1J5

  9. Marche Movenpick im sorry i dont know the exact address but its a couple blocks from the Eatons centre Richmond street i think. Its really cool inside, sort of like a fancy cafeteria where you take a tray and walk around to get sushi, or a stone oven baked pizza or roast chicken or anything! There are even fancy people standing in the bathrooms to hand out towels and toiletries!

  10. There is Korean Grill restaurant on Queen St W, half block from Mc Caul acrossed from City TV, and there is always the Old Spagetti Factory on the Esplanade, there is an Indian Buffet place in the Atrium on Bay and as previously stated Mr Greenjeans is still a fun night out.

If your in the Bathurst and Bloor area, there is a place near there east of Bathurst, JJ Muggs, but in the winter the patio is closed.

  11. Mr GreenJeans in the Eaton's Centre is good and very affordable.

  12. www.torontolife.com/restaurants....lots of good listings in there

  13. Vox

    Ontario & Adelaide

  14. If you like chinese food- Swatow is the place to go!!!  They serve really AUTHENTIC dishes from mainland China.  I will be honest- there is no ambiance- but the food is amazing!!!  Expect to wait in a line up when you get there.

It is on Spadina in China Town...

  15. Great restaurants are Juice for life (few different locations), King's Cafe, There is a very small cafe but cheap called wanda's pie in the sky.

  16. Yes, I would check out Ho Su like was previously suggested, it is delicious and reasonably priced.  I believe it's only about $10 for a carafe of the house wine! With wine, appetizer and main it will probably be approx. $20-$25/person.
