I like to knit. It's easy to learn and it's ver rewarding. Also, for a gift idea, there are wooden boxes at craft stores like michaels that are sold pretty cheap. Those can be painted however you want. Making collages out of old magazines is also fun, but it can get kind of messy. Papier-mache is also fun if you want to make a sculpture or a pinata.
