  1. Full blown CAT III ILS system will allow an airplane to land all by itself on autopilot, with no input from the pilots (once all the correct variables have been input of course). The autopilot will approach, flare, touch down, apply brakes, and hold centreline all by itself. This system is only offered at major major airports and requires a modern autopilot system (Airbus, Boeing).

  3. Some [Boston] are projected from (short of) the near end of the runway.  Some [Manassas used to have this] have a DA that is higher than the VOR approach for the airport.  Many have no outer marker; all have a final approach fix.  Some have a final approach fix altitude that is lower then the outer marker crossing altitude.  The outer marker and the locator are not always on the localizer centerline.  Some [Boston Rwy 4R] have two locator outer markers.  Some [Seattle] have Category A DA that is higher than the Category B DA.  Some [Manassas] are not aligned with the runway.  Some [Korea] authorities chart DH above the threshold, some [US and Korea] as above the touchdown zone.  When the runway surface is obscured you can use the localizer to find the centerline.
