Question:

Fun fundraising ideas?

I volunteer at a Safety School over the summer, and I'm looking for some fun things to do to raise money.

We already do a car wash, and we're thinking about doing a bake sale.

Does anyone have any more fun ideas?

(preferably not selling anything like candy, cookie dough, etc. we're looking more along the lines of something to do during the day that would bring in some money)

  1. You can do a community day ask businesses in the community to come and do demonstrations , etc, and you can charge for things for sale.  Like ask a local florist to come and do a flower arranging demonstration and then sell some arrangments or bouquets.

Have a local karate or tai kwan doe school do demonstrations and then they can sign up students.

Have the local fire dept. come and show off their trucks and fire safety saftey demonstrations.

Have the local police dept. come and show their cars and do personal and home safety.

You can sell some things and ask the businesses that the profits go the charity that you're fundraising for.

For food go to the local pizza places, delis, etc, and even the ice cream places and ask them to donate some food so you can sell some and make money.

Ask your local Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts if they'll donate and donate the profits to the charity.

You can also ask the local fast food places and the local grocery stores if they're willing to donate anything and let the proceeds go to the charity.

You can also go to other stores and services like a nail salon let them come and do manicures just basic ones and donate their profits and tips to the charity.

Call a bouncy house place and ask them (if they're local) if they can donate it if not, pay for it and charge a small fee for the kids to go in and donate those profits.

You can tell the people what the community day is for and why you are trying to raise the money and once they know it's for a good cause they won't mind pitching in the money to help someone else out!

You can also do a sweet shop with ice cream, popcorn, and cotton candy.

You can do a dunking booth and have some games available for the kids to play etc.

You can have some of the local sports teams there to sign up kids to get on teams etc.

Go around your community it will benefit them too.  You can have the local humane society there with some animals and show them off maybe someone will go home with a pet!  They can show off the animals and they may get some volunteers and adoptions too!

Go around to the local businesses tell them what it's for and who you're with and ask them if they're willing to participate. You can get an outdoor space with some tents and do it outside and make it a family fun community day.

You can also do an Around the World Feast and have food and things from around the world.  Have everyone that is working it dress up from a different area and serve foods and desserts from different areas.  Have booths from different countries and decorate those booths like that country.  So if one booth is Mexico, decorate it in a mexican theme and have the person running it dressed in traditional Mexican garb serve tacos with all the toppings, nachos, etc and have a little area where they can sit with a table and chairs so they can eat, then the next area can be Italy and so on.  Then you can have a sweet shop etc.  The people pay for the foods and all the money goes to the charity.

You can call it the Around the World Dinner

You can also do a Parents Night out, where you pick a place and baby-sit their children.  Of course, you're going to have to provide some references.  Get a group of you together and some flyers and let the parents in the community know that for one weekend a month both Friday and Saturday or just one of those days, pick the hours that they can go out and that your group will watch their children.  Make sure to list all the things you will provide.  Like dinner or snack, movie games etc.  They're going to want to make sure that they're in a fun envirnoment.  You can call it Parents Night Out and that from 6-10pm or 7-11pm whatever or even 5-9pm that for a fee you'll watch their kids while they enjoy a date night.  You can do that  a few times a month.

I hope some of these ideas help!
