my sister and I our planning an annual equestrian party for everyone at our barn, and I just thought it would be fun to come up with some new and fun game for all types of riders. i would like for the games to be on horse back and if there is a neat game that incorporates bare-backing that would be great, since there are many riders who enjoy bare-backing. thanks for any ideas!!

  1. RIDE A BUCK!!!!!

put a dollar bill in between your legs when riding bare back who ever looses the dollar last gets all the money or you dont have to play with money but that isn't nearly as fun

  2. Ride a Buck is bareback. You put a dollar under your calf and someone calls out different gaits. Last one with a dollar wins everything.

Chase Me Charlie for jumpers. You set up a single fence at a low height and have everyone jump it. If the knock the rail they are out. Once everyone has cleared a height move it up by 3 inches. The start height varies by the experience of riders. There is no need to start at 2 foot if everyone jump like 3'6". Pick an easy but resonable start height. You keep raising the jump till one person is left.

Barrel jump. You need 4 barrels (that are safe to jump). The blue barrels work best. Line four up on their side and jump them. If someone raps a barrel or has a refual/run out they are out. Once every one clear it then take a barrel away. If you get down to one barrel then set it upright. If people still get over it then set up two upright ones in a line about 2-3 strides apart. If people still make it then you have some amazing riders. Continue to set up the barrels a couple strides apart. If people are still making it then only put one stride in between them.

Bareback Equitation. Who looks good riding bareback? Have a trainer judge.

  3. theres a book for games if i think of what it is called i will post it

there is one game um you ride to the center get off put your head to the bat and spin around 6 times and then run back and who ever gets the best time wins

  4. Go to this website http://www.ponyclub.org/ on the top there is a blue bar with links, click on publications, a drop down menu will appear click on rulebooks. Find the G section and click Games Rulebook. This is filled with descriptions and pictures of how to play what are called mounted games. These are english games used by both pony club and MGAA like clubs for competion. They are very different from regular western games. They are team games, played at a very fast pace, they are quite fun. Take a few minutes look through the document and pick some easy but fun ones.

    good luck

  5. i hosted 1 of these once! soo much fun!

these are all really fun games and i had others but i cant remember them now...good luck and have fun with your barn girls!

  6. Have you heard of the keyhole race? Thats personally one of my favorites... Its where there is a big keyhole drawn on the ground (big enough for a horse to run in, turn around, tightly, and run back out again), the idea behind this game is that riders take it in turn to ride their horse as fast as they can into the keyhole, turn around and run back out... the horse is not allowed to step outside of the keyhole and the person who does it the fastest wins.
