Fun international trip for a teen?

Hi. My husband and I would like to plan a nice international trip (from the US) for us and our 16 year old over Christmas vacation. She is mostly into shopping and sightseeing and doesn't have a strong opinion on where to go. We haven't decided yet if we are thinking beach, skiing, etc.

Have you ever taken a trip that you teen just loved? Where was it? We realize we need to work fast for Christmas at this point.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Your daughter and I sound pretty similar. My family is big on traveling, and I love to do it myself, so I bet I could help you out.

One of the places that I really loved, was Florence, Italy.

It was a city, but less tourists than Rome, and in my opinion, nicer. It had great shopping, both designer and market. Lovely restaurants, and the buildings are amazing!

Another place that I really enjoyed was Cape Town, South Africa. I love this city too! It has everything! It has really nice beaches, and has a lot of nice South African boutiques. Also, if you drive a little bit you can go on a safari, which are really incredible!

If you want a place a little closer to home, try Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Really fun place, and as you can imagine great beaches.

For a little different change of pace, you can go to Switzerland. The skiing on the alps is really fun.
