Question:

Fun places to eat in San Diego?

I'm turning 18 and wanted to have dinner with a couple of my closest friends. I live in North County, San Diego. I'm looking for somewhere fun to have dinner. Some where where we can get a little dressed up, without people looking at us like we're crazy. Hopefully somewhere not too expensive. Any ideas?

  1. Lips in Hillcrest is all transvestites--depends on who you're going with.  I've never been, but I've heard that it's really fun.

Corvette diner in Hillcrest also is fun--it's a 50's diner and they throw bubblegum at you.  Really loud and fun.  I had my 19th birthday party there and took went with my entire floor of my dorm my freshman year in college.  Definitely fun for both girls and boys, large and small groups.

Bucca di Beppo is fun, too...

The Shout House downtown is a dueling piano bar at night.  Lots of people I know have birthday/bachelorette parties there.

Remember that it's not where you're going, but who you're with that makes things like dinner fun.  Get dressed up and go anywhere--who cares what anyone else thinks!  You'll have fun with you're friends no matter what.

Hope that helps!  Happy birthday :)

mainstreet cafe @ restaurant row in san marcos. between four and six they have half off appetizers. it's small, cozy, & a bit elegant. they have out door fire pits & seating and reallly yummy baked goods & desserts.

i like going to the california pizza kitchen off of vista village in vista. it's a fun place with neat decor.

  4. If you're willing to drive a little ways, Old Town has an awesome restaurant called Baja Lobster. There's also another good one there called Casa Guadalajara.

Downtown, check out Buca di Beppo.

I would also (since you're in North County) check out the restaurants at some of the Temecula Vineyards. Calloway (the golf company) has a WONDERFUL outdoor restaurant -- don't worry, it's not completely open air -- and the food is fantastic.

Have a blast -- San Diego rocks!
