Fun projects?

What would be a fun project to start? preferably something that has to do with electronics or wood or mechanics etc. Something not too complicated but can be of use when completed. Thanks Brendan

Look in Popular mechanics, in earch issue they have projects variyng from low (about 15-30$) or high ( hundreds or thousands)
