  1. As a teacher I love to make leprechaun hats out of styrofoam cups.  Kids use pens to color the hats then you put them in a oven any temp and they "melt" a bit to become small like the size of a leprechaun.  Be careful to watch them in the oven because it happens fast!

  2. this is kind of common so i dont know if it has been done but read Green Eggs and ham and make eggs and dye them green.  put a white carnition in water with green food coloring and leave it for the kids to see over the hours as the flower turns green. Rainbow toast is a fun snack. put some milk in little cups or bowls and mix in some food coloring. use q-tips as brushes and dip them in the milk and "paint" the bread. (Whole wheat bread works and it's a healthy snack.) Then you can toast the bread.

  3. In our town we have a parade every year. So maybe you could discuss that with the kids and come up with ideas to have your own parade at school. Maybe parents and maybe even community workers could join in.

  4. They could make their own four leaf clovers and decorate them. They can also make the green hats. You can make pots of gold and rainbows and decorate em and hang them in the classroom. You can use cotton for the clouds and different color glitter for the rainbow. You can get gold shiny sheets for the pot of gold.

  5. When I taught preschool, one year for St. Patrick's I taped green paper footprints all around the room after the children had gone home for the day.  I sprinkled gold glitter around the room, not a lot just enough for the kids to see it here and there, and I hid chocolate gold coins everywhere in the room.  When the kids came in the next day I told them the leprechauns had visited while we were gone and left surprises all over the room, when the kids found the coins they got to put them in their cubbies to take home later and eat.  Your mom could also hide paper four leaf clovers and have four leaf clover stickers to hand out when the kids find the clovers, just make sure everyone gets a chance to find one throughout the day.  For art time we would make rainbow pictures with little pots of gold.  For each child you need, a piece of blue construction paper, a paper cut out of a black pot shape, small squares of multi colored tissue paper, glue, and gold glitter.  Tell the kids to crinkle up the tissue paper and glue the pieces into arcs to make the rainbow, glue the paper pot to one end of the rainbow, make a  small puddle of glue at the top of the pot and sprinkle the glitter, shake off the excess glitter and tahdah, a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  Have fun!
