  1. The mayan pyramids are not that far.  I'm sure you can find a tour guide at your hotel.  If possible, do one where you also get to see the underground water caverns (called "cenotes").

    There's a water park there called Xel-ha (I think is pronounced shell ah).  I didn't go, but it seemed like it would be fun.
