  1. Hit Boyne City, Charlevoix or East Jordan, MI.  Stay somewhere on Lake Charlevoix, rent a boat, hang out on the beach, go fishing, etc.  Boyne City and Charlevoix are beautiful little towns.

Boyne City has "Stroll the Streets" on Friday nights where people are out playing music on the street corners, there are sidewalk sales, etc.

Or, for bigger city stuff, how about Traverse City?  Hit the wineries, the casinos, plus downtown TC is quite quaint itself!

  2. this saturday is the woodward dream cruise, and that's free. lots of cars, people watching, food, etc etc etc... there are some very cool hotels around, motor city casino in detroit has an awesome new hotel that just opened about 8 months ago or so.

  3. Meijer Botanical and Statue Garden in Grand Rapids

    The Zoo in Grand Rapids

President Gerald Ford Museum in Grand Rapids

The Dutch themed park in Holland - You can watch individuals in Dutch costumes and wooden shoes doing traditional dances.  There is a fascinating player piano type organ.  You can see how wooden shoes are carved.  Watch elaborate candles being carved and buy some great fudge.  Also visit the Delftware factory nearby.

Visit Windmill Island to see an authentic Dutch windmill.

The Coast Guard festival in Grand Haven

Go to the beach.  Swim and it's a great place to fly a kite.
