  1. *Conflict Theory* argues that society is in a constant state of struggle over power. Those in power strive to maintain their power over others, and gain more, while those with little or no power can't really do much about it.

EXAMPLE: WHAT WOULD CONFLICT THEORY SAY ABOUT HOSPITALS?

Remember: Power Struggle! So, the doctor's would be at the top because they're seen as the people with the most power, while let's say the nurses have less power. This results in a constant power struggle because the nurses want more power, but cannot have it because the doctors are more powerful and strive to maintain that power.

*Functionalist Theory* argues that society functions as a whole, and that a problem in one area of society will affect everything else because society functions as a collective whole.

EXAMPLE: WHAT WOULD FUNCTIONALIST THEORY SAY ABOUT HOSPITALS?

Everything works as a collective whole, so the nurses are just as useful as the doctor's because without them there would be DYSfunction. This includes every level of people involved in the medical system. For example, the maintaince crew is also important because if the elevators were to malfunction and there was no maintainance crew to fix them, then the nurses and doctors wouldn't be able to travel as quickly throughout the hospital, which would result in DYSfunction.

Try applying this to your question, and you might have an easier time.

  2. Both would say, don't allow illegals to be hired, because it results in a net negative for society.

Illegals need to come here LEGALLY(just like past immigrants did) that is why they are called ILLEGALS!
