Question:

Functions: Am I correct or not?

So I did these functions and wanted to know whether or not I was correct or not. If you can tell me if they are correct or not I would greatly appreciate it!

f(x) = x - 7; g(x) = 5/x^2

Find f(g(1)), g(f(1)), f(g(x)), g(f(x))

My answers

f(g(1)) = 2

g(f(1)) = -5/6

f(g(x)) = (5/x^2) - 7

g(f(x)) = 5/x-7

Thanks again!

  1. as i've solve it for me its correct.

  2. f(g(1))=-2

    g(f(1))=5/36

    and

    g(f(x))=5/(x-7)^2

    the third one is correct!

  3. your third one is right. the other guy who answered has the right answers...

  4. -2

    5/36

    correct

    5/(x-7)^2

    ANSWER

  5. First find f(g(x)) and g(f(x)), then find (f(g(1)) and g(f(1)).

    f(g(x)) = g(x) - 7

    f(g(x)) = 5/x^2 - 7

    g(f(x)) = 5/f(x)^2

    g(f(x)) = 5/(x-7)^2

    f(g(1)) = 5/(1^2) - 7 = -2

    g(f(x)) = 5/(-6)^2 = 5/36
