Fund raising?

i wish to do some fund raising by rowing the full length of the murray river (2,500kms) and will hand over the funds to established murray river charities on the completion of the trip, the door to door stuff i can handle but how can i receive donations from people who see my intentions on the news or by word of mouth?? is there anything else i should know? this is all in the development stage so any ideas would b appreciated cheers

  1. Invite everybody to join you in rowing the full length of the Murray River (and don't do it alone). The more participants, the more chances of publicity and the more publicity you get, the more supports (financial/donations) that you can get.

    You can even ask the participants to dole out something for the cause. They can even help you solicit donations from people they know.


  2. write a press release and give it to your local newspaper they usually like to print stories like that. press release is where u write about what you're doing (dont write too long half a page is fine) and they print just that. Unless you're not a good writer they'll maybe re-write it. I did that worked well they sent a photogaher to me too.

  4. I use the website ibakesale.com for fundraising. You register the organization, then ask all of your friends to register and shop there.  There are many many stores to chose from. You get a percentage of everything you or your friends purchase. It adds up quickly, and no one has to buy anything they weren't planning on buying anyways. It is especially great around the holidays, as many people shop online anyways. Check it out and good luck.
