Question:

Funding Online Poker?

I have two ways I would prefer to fund my account. I was wondering if anyone has had success with either of them...

*DISCLAIMER: I have not tried either yet because I will be signing up for my account tommorow?

An echeck using my bank of america checking account.

Or using my Visa debit card, also tied to my bank of america checking account.

I have heard that bank of america won't accept checks from online sites, but I haven't heard of anyone being unable to fund their account by using an echeck from bank of america.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  1. I got a Mastercard gift card from my World Points off my Bank of America Visa Signature card.  Poker Stars took it no problem.  I've also heard that the gift cards you buy in Walgreens or similar, work just fine.

Once you get a check from the online sites, I've not heard of anyone having a problem with them.  A check is a check.

The issue is not with Bank of America it is with the Bush administration intimidating banks and bullying them into declining gambling transactions, even though the same administration just opened the floodgates for online horse race betting in 2006.  Apparently poker is dangerous, but betting on horses can't lose!  Or maybe some corrupt politician got bribed.

  2. You won't be able to use the Visa debit card but there's no reason why you can't use an e-check at Poker Stars (http://www.pokerstars.com/?source=kingco...  Download the software, go to the cashier, select e-check and have a check ready to enter the info.  You can't use this check again so tear it up.

  3. You can try to use either.  The simplest thing would be to use your debit card or echeck, but some banks have filters that decline transactions to online poker sites.  A funny thing, my bank's debit card declined poker transactions, but allowed an eCheck just fine!  The only downside of eChecks is that if your bank DOES reject the transaction, the site you use it at will deduct that amount from your poker balance.  If that amount happens to be more than you have in your account, then it will be deducted the next time you make a deposit.

You can also use a Visa All Access prepaid brand gift card.  It's the only prepaid Visa card that I've tried that actually works, and I've tried about 5 brands.  All Access cards do not have filters that block transactions to poker sites, others do.  For a complete guide to banking with online poker sites, and for other great articles, go to http://poker-lobby.com you will also find bonus codes to each site's best bonus as well as other great poker tips.  Hope this helps.
