Funding for Adults returning to education?

I live in the south in the Uk, I want to go back to college but have been told I would be expected to pay for my tution. Does anyone know of any funding or grants I may be elible for. I know about the ALG but as my partner is a full time worker i would only be entitled to £10 a week.

Very little.  My partner can't retrain because we can't afford it.  There are no grants or funding available for any of the courses he wants to do (Driving Instructor, HGV Licence etc).

It depends on the course you want to do though, I'm hoping to do a part time PGCE this September and the fees for that will be paid by the local Authority.
