Question:

Funding for my Tanzania trip?

I'm located in Ontario, Canada, and I deperately need to raise more money for my trip before I go so that I could reach the $4000 cost. I have tried getting money off of students and going door to door, but they had weak results.

Now, I would like to get some grants from non-profit organizations or even corporate sponsors. Unfortunately I do not have the means to find them. Since the organization I am going under is a registered charity, donations are fully tax deductible. I don't mind wearing corporate sponsor's logos, if necessary.

  1. Nonprofit organizations and corporations do NOT sponsor such trips as for. I'm sorry that you don't like hearing this, but it's the truth.

If you will go through the resolved section of "community service," you will see this question asked again and again and again. The advice for all those questions is the same as yours -- you are going to have to work for the money yourself, you are going to have to get donations and loans from family and friends, you are going to have to approach your community of faith, etc.

That's not a cynical answer -- it's REALITY. $4000 is a huge amount of money, and a corporation can donate that money directly to an NGO in Tanzania and employ several people, who would then be able to feed and sustain their families as a result -- and that would be a lot more bang for the buck than paying for your educational trip.
