Have any of you experienced and assembly at school where the school hired some company to come in and give everyone a pamphlet to take around to their neighbors and relatives which has a bunch of c**p they can buy and a percentage of your collections gets donated to the school? They also make it really fun for the kids like if you sell get this much money you win an ipod, etc. I never did this, my parents disagree with it, and I mean, I don't exactly want other kids wanting me to buy c**p just so they can get some prize and also get some money for their school! I'm a sophomore and on spring break this year my orchestra is going on tour to Europe. As a fundraiser for people to make some money to go into their trip fund, you take a pamphlet around to people and they buy crappy food from it, just so you can go on a school field trip? It doesn't make much sense to me. First of all, wouldn't parents feel weird if they were able to pay for their kid to go on this trip, but they actually went on money random people paid to get some pastries? I don't think other people should be paying for you to go on the trip anyway unless you really need help, and in that case, people should just give you money for the sake of you going, not to get some food as a reward! That's beside the point! Does anyone agree with me?

  1. When my son was in school, I too hated  fund raises and thought they were dumb. I will rather just contribute the money as you said. Because when you try to sell to friends and neighbors, most of the time other students have already asked. Also I don't think that it is good for the smaller kids because they can't help it if they can't sell as much as other kids and can't get nice prizes. It should be banned from schools. Thats my oponion!
