Question:

Fundraising, admission charge, or donation?

We are planning, what we hope will be a large fundraiser for "Team World Vision". We plan on screening a documentary, ( as soon as we get permission from the production company) having entertainment, a silent auction, concessions and a child sponsorship table. What would be the best way to raise the money, charging admission, or "accepting donatins?" I wonder if people would be less likely to give a donation if they had already paid admission, and perhaps the donation might have been larger than the admission price. Any thoughts? Anyone have any experience with this type of fundraising activity?

  1. Presell tickets to the event, keeping the price a dollar or two lower than the door price.   Also have a few large donation jars in various places inside.  Good luck

  2. People typically give more if you just ask for a donation than if you set a price.

  3. i personally don't mind paying an admission and donating if i can... i know most people don't like to do both and when made to pay a set price, that is all they do.

in previous events, we've made more by asking for a donation instead of a set price. or there is also the whole, suggested _$_ dollar donation...

raffles are always good too. i know you already plan on a silent auction but raffles are always a hit. maybe a 25 gas card, itunes card, a sponsorship on their behalf, stuff like that.

good luck, and if you plan on doing different types of fundraising, check this site out. the home and car first aid kits are really good for doubling your investment and sell really well. if you call, please tell them sam sent you, this would help me out a lot. thanks.
