  1. Choir, park, chili!  Maybe I'm too Texan.  We do an annual Chili Cook-off that gets amazing results.  In one day we raised about a thousand dollars, and the turn-out wasn't even that big.

    We rented a park and had teams sign up to compete in the cook-off.  The fee for a team was $30, and the prize is a trophe ($10 max) and bragging rights.  The teams should bring everything needed to make the Chili and give out samples to visitors.

    You should also set up a concession stand and games.  We had hotdogs, cupcakes, sodas, water, chips, pickles, and toppings. Games included 4-square, bball, cartoon drawing, and face painting (each 50 cents).

    On top of that, have a raffle.  You can get prizes donated from businesses and offices.  We got 15 books from barnes and noble, gift cards from stores and shops, and a bunch of random things. Each raffle ticket was $1 and the participants put it in a cup corresponding with their desired prize.  This went over well.

    It'll be a wonderful event, but it will take time!

  2. Don't know your city but my best thoughts;

    Find a Nursing home that needs "xtras" most people are on limited incomes and could use things we all consider necessities, deliver it in person and invite the papers to the presentation you might even want to make the presentation a celebration like May Day, Mothers Day.  Hope this help with giving you ideas.

  3. Since you are a choir, check with a local mall if you can sing in the center court  (you could do a theme with showtunes or a Christmas concert in May)  and have someone pass the the crowd with a bucket for donations.  For a large donation you could do requests.

    .

  4. Instead of trying to raise money -give charities time. That always draws attention from  the media. For the media to see a choir class giving back to the community, that will draw attention. Look into places like unitedwepaint.org, or habit for humanity. The day you plan on helping call the media and "leak" it out. Also send out flyers to invite other people from public to help help them.

    Best of luck to ya.

  5. -selling pizza is always a huge 1, buy a whole bunch a pies, make sure u sell each slice to make a profit $2.00 should do it, right afterschool

    -bake sale, have everyone bring a little somthin from home, baked goods can be very expensive, ppl will buy a slice for $1.50 when it costs like $5 to make the entire cake!

    -and put a box in the main office so that teachers can drop money in the box, or jar, make sure there is a label explaining what the charity is about
