Question:

Fungus on Apple and Peach trees?

Why do my apple trees (and this year my peach trees) get fungus every year?

I sprayed them in the spring. I really don't want to lose my trees. What can I do?

I have a MacIntosh, Honeycrisp, Red and Gold Delicious, and Honey golden that l'm worried may not make it.

Please help.

  1. One major important step in keeping fungus, insect pests, and diseases out of your fruit trees is making sure that you keep up on your cleanliness under the tree.  Leaving just one small, immature apple that drop off under your tree can cause problems.

While you have identified that this fungus is attacking both types of trees, it is rather hard to say what exactly it is without more details -- is it on the tree or the fruit?  Also, your location places a role in exactly what fungus you have too.  My suggestion is to contact your local agricultural/horticultural extention agent.  He or she will be able to help you out with the best treatment strategy for the fungus.  My hope is that it is something realitively simple and will not be in your trees next year!
